Graduate Program

The great demand from the national petroleum sector and need to develop indigenous technology motivated for the initiation of postgraduate programme in Petroleum & Gas Engineering. The Department is offering master’s degree programme in Petroleum & Gas Engineering since 1999, whereas Ph.D. Petroleum & Gas Engineering program started in the year 2007.
The Master in Petroleum & Gas Engineering is a two-year programme. Besides completion of the required courses, the students have to carry out comprehensive research projects related to the practical industrial problems. These projects strengthen the technology support for the industry.
The department has a highly qualified faculty. In addition to the regular faculty, the department has a number of prominent petroleum engineers on its list of experts who can be invited as visiting teachers, research advisors and examiners. The research interests of the faculty include Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Drilling Engineering, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Reservoir Simulation, Well Testing and Well Log Interpretation.
The department has the facility of well equipped laboratories and a well stocked library. The students are also encouraged to use computer in their projects and class assignments.

Admission Criteria

Intake criteria for postgraduate degree in Petroleum & Gas Engineering shall be minimum sixteen years Graduate Engineering degree (or equivalent) in petroleum & gas engineering, geological engineering, mining engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering and mechanical engineering or any other relevant engineering discipline to be determined by PGRC

  • Requirement for the fulfillment of the Degree:-
      • Candidate needs to secure twenty four (24)Credit Hours of course work and research thesis of six (06) Credit Hours.
      • At least twelve (12) out of twenty four (24) Credit hours of course work must be from Group A.
