🎉 Department Achievement: First Prize at ATCE 2024! 🏆

We are proud to announce that *Amraha Noor, a student from the Petroleum and Gas engineering department, won the First Prize in the Student Competition at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) – ATCE 2024 held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 18-19 February 2025.

Her award-winning presentation “Application of Machine Learning (ML) Models for Rock Property Determination from Well Logs” showcased innovative research using ML techniques to improve lithology identification, shale volume (Vshale) calculation, and porosity estimation from well log data. Amraha implemented and compared multiple ML models, achieving exceptional accuracy, particularly with Random Forest and Extreme Gradient Boosting.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the high standards of education and research upheld by the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department. It also highlights the transformative role of Machine Learning in modern Petroleum Engineering.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Amraha Noor and her dedicated mentors, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khurram Zahoor, Dr. Arshad Shehzad Ahmad Shahid, and Engr. Hasan Jehanzaib, for this outstanding accomplishment. Their dedication and expertise continue to inspire innovation and excellence in our field.
