Engineers are not ought to be just professionals; they should also be good human beings who can contribute to their society on a day-to-day basis. With this spirit, the department, through the Society of Petroleum Engineers UET Lahore Chapter, collaborated with Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) to arrange a full-day training workshop covering basic first aid procedures and a live fire safety drill. The department is thankful to the management of Punjab Emergency Services for deputing experienced Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who visited the department on December 7, 2022 and guided the students, faculty and staff members about the significance of basic life-saving procedures. The Rescue 1122 team conducted an awareness session on fire safety, covering the basics of fire initiation, different types of fires and their possible remedies, which was followed by a live Fire Safety Drill, which saw active participation by students, faculty and staff members. There was also a Life Savers session which included baseline awareness on proper response mechanism in case of a life-threatening emergency situation e.g. a road accident. The EMTs demonstrated basic first aid procedures and provided training to the attendees on conducting a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedure in case of an unconscious subject. The attendees also completed their online Life-Savers Registration with Punjab Emergency Services during the workshop.

All the attendees showed keen interest in the activities conducted during this full-day training session and thanked the department and SPE UET Lahore Chapter for arranging such an important event. The visiting team from Rescue 1122 were presented with acknowledgement certificates at the conclusion of the workshop.
