A five-member PetroBowl team comprising of 3rd-Year (Session 2018-22) UG students of the department made history by clinching the Runners-Up slot at SPE Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Regional PetroBowl Qualifiers 2021, held virtually and hosted in KSA on June 14 – 15, 2021. The students proved their mettle by clearing four rounds of the rapid-fire technical contest and winning against representations from some of the top Petroleum Engineering schools in the entire region. They reached the final to face-off against formidable opponents from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who were backed up by participation from doctoral level students as well. After a nail-biting turn of events, Team UET was adjudged Runners-Up by a razor-thin margin. This is the first time UET Lahore students have made their mark in annual SPE PetroBowl contests, winning them a prized opportunity to represent their alma mater once again at the global edition of the competition, to be held alongside SPE Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition (ATCE) 2021 in Dubai, UAE in September this year. The faculty, staff and students of the department congratulate Team UET for their achievement and wish them luck for an even better performance during the next phase.
